Farrah Fawcett established The Foundation (FFF) in 2007, two years before her death from anal cancer. The Foundation’s mission is to fund innovative cancer research, help promote prevention and awareness, and to help those struggling with cancer today.

Since 2010, the Farrah Fawcett Foundation has funded a number of high-quality researchers at a variety of institutions, including Duke University, Brown University, Harvard, Vanderbilt, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, and MD Anderson, where clinician-scientists are performing ground-breaking research. We are particularly proud that, Robin Farias-Eisner MD PHD MBA, at UCLA, who had received seed funds from the FFF, has recently been awarded a multimillion-dollar grant from the NIH/NCI to develop novel effective anti-cancer drugs, that are free of side effects. Dr. Robin Farias-Eisner currently is the only Gynecologic Oncologist in the country to receive such an award.

In 2013, the FFF joined forces with Stand Up To Cancer and has since committed over $3 million dollars to fund translational research on HPV-related cancers in Farrah’s name. The first team, headed by Dr. Ellis Reinherz and Dr. Robert Haddad at Dana Farber, went to clinical trial giving new hope to patients with no other treatment options. Our newest team will study HPV related throat cancer, which is on the rise and has surpassed cervical cancer. Since we believe the mechanism for treatment translates to all HPV cancer, we feel this continues our investment in this arena.

Farrah was fortunate to have been able to fund her own care. However, she was aware that many were not in the same position. In order to help those patients in need of financial assistance, the Foundation created the Farrah Fawcett Fund which is now at seven cancer treatment centers in the US.
