HPV Summit 2019

Following our mission of prevention and awareness, the FFF funded the HPV Summit, which took place on July 26, 2019, in Los Angeles. The summit followed the HPV roundtable event in Sacramento in October 2018, which brought together multiple organizations that support HPV prevention. Strategies for vaccine uptake were discussed, then implemented at the spring Summit. This summit was part of our collaboration with the American Cancer Society.

Anti-Cancer Lifestyle Program

The Farrah Fawcett Foundation is committed to promoting awareness and cancer prevention.
The foundation is supporting a new initiative based on the book, Anticancer-A New Way of Life by David Servan-Schreiber, MD, PhD. The Anticancer Lifestyle Program has been developed by the staff at the Concord Hospital Payson Center for Cancer Care (Concord, NH) and is designed to educate cancer survivors on prevention strategies, specific to adopting healthy lifestyle behaviors. Evidence exists that a healthy diet, adequate physical activity, lowered exposure to toxins, social support, and stress management all help to maximize the body’s natural defenses against cancer. IANS

We are extremely proud of our collaboration with the HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation in helping to create IANS, the International Anal Neoplasia Society. IANS is the world’s first professional society devoted to prevention and treatment of anal cancer. It is the first organization that welcomes doctors and patients from all around the world to share information, ask questions, and get referrals. IANS focuses on disseminating information regarding pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of anal neoplasia among individuals internationally.

The Inaugural Annual Scientific Meeting of IANS took place in San Francisco.  It was the first time the HPV and anal cancer community got together to share information.  Pictured left is Justine Almada from the HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation next to Dr. Joel Palefsky, President of IANS.  IANS Board Members are pictured with FF Foundation Dr. of Communications, Christine Romeo on right.
